Assignment Brief:

Putting the Pieces Together This week, you will be incorporating all the pieces—putting together all of the knowledge and skills you have gained throughout the course and putting them into action.

As you complete this assignment, don’t hesitate to ask your professor questions if you feel you did not gain the required skill at any point up until now. You should be able to actively use these skills, not just have developed new knowledge. Application of knowledge should be your goal in any graduate course.

You will do yourself a disservice if you do not actively study the material and then understand the material to the point that you can apply it/put it into practice. “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough, we must do” (Leonardo da Vinci, 1452-1519). Every discipline understands that knowledge is nothing without the application of knowledge.

For instance, it may seem obvious that in business, if you do not apply correct business strategies, your business will not thrive (Ramirez & Kumpikaite, 2012). But do you apply that same basic understanding to your graduate work? You may have heard the old saying “knowledge is power”-but how does knowledge give you power if you cannot apply that knowledge? So, if you struggle to put any part of this assignment together, you may want to also go back to that week’s resources and re-review the resources.
