- Think about what you want to achieve – and therefore what data you need to do that
- Combine the data from different years into single worksheets so you can compare years or show trends
- ‘Decode’ the data – for each question, what do the different answer numbers represent?
- Make images of the data, i.e. graphs, to help identify trends, comparisons or other interesting relationships
- Use stats to then test ideas – if appropriate
- If you want to achieve something with Excel or SPSS to do this, ask in a tutorial or google it – you’ll probably find the answer
