Critical Analysis Paper – Instructions
Detailed Instructions:
This assignment provides students an opportunity to critically analyze a scholarly article; the article will be provided. The purpose of the assignment is to allow students to develop and practice skills in information literacy, critical thinking, and understand the role of theory in social work practice and research. The critical analysis paper is due on September 17, 2021 by 6:30 pm.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PAPER
The paper should be no more than 4-5½ typed, double-spaced pages with a separate page of references in APA format. Students must use APA conventions for the paper including citations, use of quotes or paraphrases, and reference list.
The paper should include sections described below.
Summary (2-2 ½ pages)
Purpose of the article
Key question (stated or unstated) that the author(s) address
Main points and evidence used in support of their main points/arguments
Main conclusions
Critical Analysis (1- 1 ½ pages)
What did you learn that was new? (New information or a new way to thinking
What did you already know that was reinforced or supported by the reading?
What questions did the reading raise/generate? (Points of disagreement, concepts that were not clear, or places where you saw the need for specific data to justify or support assertions?)
III. TCP Analysis (1 – 1 ½ pages)
Discuss how the ideas in the article may apply to diverse population and how they relate to any aspect of the transcultural perspective.
