After learning about the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and reading the essays on Human Rights Violations for our class you now will write a paper that argues how a current event should be considered a human rights violation and then consider responses/solutions to it.
In this essay, you will identify an event that is taking place today that you believe to be a violation of one or more of the human rights identified in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. You will tell your reader about this situation, informed by newspaper articles and academic database research, and you will explain to your reader which articles of the UN Declaration of Human Rights you think this violates and why. In addition to your secondary sources you will conduct an interview with a person that has been impacted by this issue. Finally, you will propose a possible response to this violation.
Make sure that the final draft of your essay includes
An introduction that provides general information about the human rights violation you will discuss and that includes your thesis statement (that declares the situation you will write about and explains why/how it violates a specific human right).
Specific information about the human rights violation that you find through your research
(at least two quotes from two sources).
Quotes from the person/s you have interviewed impacted by this violation.
An explanation of how this event/situation is a violation of a human right (at least one quote from the UN Declaration of Human Rights).
A discussion of how people should respond to/try to solve this violation.
