Wk 1 – Digestive System Annotated Visual Representation, Part I
Assignment Content
In each week of this course, you will add to your understanding about a single organ in the digestive system. You will construct a visual representation of that digestive organ that includes annotations, such as detailed labels or explanations that describe your finished image.
Use drawing tools in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Piktochart, or a program of your choice to build onto your graphic or illustration for each weeks assignment. For resources about working with graphics and illustrations in Microsoft Word, access the Microsoft Office 365 Training Center located in the Center for Writing Excellence link provided in this assignments resources section.
Choose 1 organ from the following list to use as the basis of your assignments throughout the course:
Mouth
Esophagus
Stomach
Small and large intestines
Rectum and anus
Pancreas
Liver
Gallbladder
Create a basic graphic or illustration that represents the visual appearance of the organ you selected. Your graphic or illustration can be very basic this week because you will add to it in the upcoming weeks assignments. Capture the main features that would make the organ recognizable.
Write a 250- to 350-word response to the following questions. Provide your responses either in a separate document or through detailed labels to your graphic or illustration.
Which organ did you select?
What different types of nutrients might be introduced to the selected organ through the digestive system?
What non-nutrition factors might impact the organs wellness? (You do not need to discuss how this impacts the organ yet. You will revisit how non-nutrition factors affect your selected organ in future weeks of this course.)
Cite sources to support your assignment.
Format your citations according to APA guidelines.
Submit your assignment.
