Case 1:
John and Carol have been married for 7 years. They met while standing in line at the supermarket. This couple has no children, but Carol likes to call John her big baby. She tells others that she always has to clean up after him and make him get up for work in the morning,
“just like a rotten, rebellious teenager.” They both like sex a lot, and tend to engage in sexual intercourse more than other couples they know. However, other forms of sexual activity are pretty non-existent. At first, John missed being kissed and hugged, but he tells himself it could be worse – he could be getting nothing.
Carol vacillates between calling him “stud-man” and “wimpy-noodle” in bed; she says it keeps him guessing and that it is good for their relationship not to be too predictable.
When either of them wants sex, they don’t ask, they just take what they want by making the other one feel guilty or ashamed. What level of sexual interaction is this couple at? Why did you choose this level of sexual expression for them?
Case 2:
Marie and Mark love to try new ways of pleasuring each other. Mark thinks every day how fortunate he was to have found Marie – he never thought he would find a woman who was as interested in love-making and erotic pleasure as much as he is.
Marie was always interested in pleasuring herself, but was surprised to have found a man who seems just as interested in pleasuring her as himself. Case 3:
Pat and Melvin are so similar in their interests and activities that people say they were made for each other. It’s hard to believe they’ve only been together for 3 months. Each one feels safe with the other;
Melvin can almost predict what Pat will wear to work each day, Pat can predict exactly when Melvin is “in the mood” for one of their sensual nights together. Although they are not married, they have both expressed a strong desire to have children within the next few years.
