The professor has offered two different ways that this essay can be written:
OPTION A: Compose an argumentative essay about women in the literature on the topic (Beauty standards) This essay must include direct quotations from the texts (2 sources) we have read and from outside sources( 3 sources) that are analyzed and linked to the main argument.
OPTION B: Write a creative nonfiction essay (an essay that uses literary styles and techniques to create a factually accurate narrative) that describes your experiences reading texts about Beauty standards and incorporates quotations and analyses of two or more of the texts we read this semester. Additionally, your essay must incorporate at least three critical quotations from outside sources.
The main topic assigned to me for this essay is Beauty standards. Now anything can be discussed in terms of beauty standards such as the male perspective, the female perspective, physical beauty vs internal beauty, how women view themselves, etc. I will link three sources from the class that we discussed for beauty standards. 2 of these 3 class sources MUST be used in the paper so you have the option to choose which ones you would like to add to the paper. Additionally, regardless of if you choose option A or option B, you will have to use 3 outside sources that you are able to choose on your own. A Works cited page is also required that includes the two sources from class that I will provide to you and the three sources that you will find on your own.
The two sources that I am providing are The Husband Sitch and Mirror.
