Please read & choose one of the following questions below to answer:
(1) Many scholars have called for a multicultural history of Modern Civil Rights and Social Movements in the US. Based principally on your reading of 1) Youth, Identity, and Power; 2) Mountain Movers; and, 3) An Indigenous People’s History of the US, assess the historical value of this approach. In your response, fully explore two issues. First, provide a relevant and full definition of multiculturalism. Second, detail and then assess what you deem to be the most important strengths and weaknesses of a multicultural history of Modern Civil Rights and Social Movements in the US.
(2) Based principally on your reading of 1) Youth, Identity, and Power; 2) Mountain Movers; and, 3) An Indigenous People’s History of the US, which specific tactical/strategic approaches have best advanced the recent Civil Rights/Freedom Struggles of Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans (Chicanxs). In your response, first discuss the specific tactical/strategic approaches that have best advanced the recent Civil Rights/Freedom Struggles of each group considered separately. Second, discuss the specific tactical/strategic approaches that have best advanced the recent Civil Rights/Freedom Struggles of all four groups considered together, or collectively.
(3) Based principally on your reading of 1)Youth, Identity, and Power; 2) Mountain Movers; and, 3) An Indigenous People’s History of the US, what specifically can the recent history of the Freedom Struggles of Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans (Chicanxs) tell us about the contemporary Freedom Struggles of these communities of color?
