Family/School Collaboration Plan
Introduction
We are a school community and we want to make sure that all of our students succeed. We need to work together as a team, so this Collaboration Plan will help us do that.
Introduction
This lesson is intended to introduce students to the concept of family and school collaboration. The purpose of this lesson is to provide an overview of how families and schools work together, as well as how they can work together in a positive way. The audience for this lesson includes high school seniors who are preparing for college applications or looking at other ways they can use their education after high school graduation.
The learning objective(s) for this lesson are:
To introduce students to the concept of family and school collaboration
To demonstrate the importance of working together with others
Purpose of Collaboration Plan
The purpose of this collaborative plan is to help families and schools work together to improve student outcomes. This includes:
Increasing parent involvement in school activities, programs and services.
Improving school culture through positive relationships between teachers, staff members and parents/guardians.
Collaboration Plan Components
The Collaboration Plan is a document that outlines the areas of collaboration and how they will be supported by your school. It also includes strategies for meeting the needs of families, such as those who are new to the area or English language learners (ELLs). This plan can be used by both schools and families with your permission.

We have also created a list of resources for you to use in your own partnership with family members:
Family/School Collaboration Support Outline: A guide for parents who want help understanding what it means when teachers say “we” instead of “I.” For example, if your child’s teacher says “we are going to read an ESL storybook together,” it means that this child will be reading along with the rest of his classmates while another student reads aloud from their book on tape recorder which allows them all to hear each other at once – just like being at home!

Evaluation and Assessment of the Family/School Collaboration Plan
The purpose of the evaluation and assessment is to ensure that your family/school collaboration plan is working effectively. This helps you develop your own process for planning, implementing, and evaluating family strategies. The plan should include:
A timeline for how often you will do the evaluation and assessment so that it can be scheduled into your schedule as necessary
The specific types of questions or surveys you want to ask in order to get information about what’s working well or not working well with each family member or school staff member (e.g., “How do you feel about this program?”)
To make sure that we are working together as a school community for all students.
To make sure that we are working together as a school community for all students.
The purpose of the collaboration plan is to:
Create clear expectations for each family/school team member on how their job responsibilities relate to the program goals and objectives.
Establish roles, responsibilities and accountabilities so that everyone knows what they need to do in order to work together effectively.
Identify ways in which the team can improve its performance over time by identifying strengths and weaknesses within themselves or other teams in our district or state (elevating)
