Assessment
As this module on data analysis forms the second part of the research knowledge pillar in this program an understanding of quantitative and qualitative data analysis as well as report writing (both quantitative and qualitative) is important for learners to progress to their final year of this degree where they will complete their capstone module.
Assessments are designed to allow the learner to demonstrate that learning has taken place in an environment of deepening knowledge and increasing NVivo and SPSS skill sets. This takes the form of a combination of assignments including an online class test and qualitative and quantitative research reports.
Module assessment has been designed to allow the learner to demonstrate Level 7 knowledge and skills, often through the lens of application. CAs assess learner knowledge of the theoretical and practical components of the module. Assessment design ensures that weaker and stronger learners can be differentiated by allowing strong learners to display the advanced knowledge they have gained by going beyond lecture materials and providing evidence of their own relevant in-depth research on a topic.
In this module, learners will be assessed in the following ways:
- CA1 Here learners will demonstrate an understanding of using the NVivo program and qualitative report writing skills through the production of a qualitative research report.
- CA2 will assess students’ understanding using SPSS to analyze quantitative data through the completion of an online class test using SPSS.
- CA3 will assess learners’ understanding of quantitative report writing through the completion of a quantitative research report.
