This is continued from last week. You an athletic director at a school and level of your choice (youth-sports organization, high school, or college) and are preparing to hold a pre-school retreat for your coaches. Using the chapter 4 worksheets, plan this section of the workshop that will help your coaches participate in and develop activities to develop team cohesion and trust. This part is 3-hours long and follows lunch. It will conclude your first day.

Workshop Title: Developing an Athlete-Centered Coaching Philosophy

Outline Schedule of Activities:

Duration: 3 hours (9:00 am – 12:00 pm)

9:00 am – 9:15 am

Activity: Welcome and Introductions

Purpose: Foster a friendly environment and a sense of community among the coaches.

Rationale: A successful workshop requires coaches to develop rapport and trust with one another.

9:15 am – 10:15 am

Activity: Understanding Athlete-Centered Coaching Philosophy (Powerpoint Presentation)

Purpose: Introduce the concept of athlete-centered coaching and its benefits.

Rationale: Setting the foundation for the workshop by providing a clear understanding of the philosophy.

10:15 am – 10:45 am

Activity: Group Discussion

Purpose: Encourage coaches to share their knowledge and thoughts on athlete-centered coaching. 

Rationale: Encourages active participation and allows coaches to reflect on their present coaching style.
