Class Activity: Case Scenario Betty

Betty Miller is a 75-year-old widow who lives at home. She is about to return home after two weeks in hospital following a hip fracture sustained after a fall in her home.

Following the fall, she spent a night on the floor of her home unable to move or reach a phone to call for help.

Although the rehabilitation team has organised a help alarm for Betty to wear at all times and planned a range of home improvements, Betty is anxious about returning home. Other members of the team have noted that Betty seems anxious not only about another fall but also about returning to living alone as she appears to be socially isolated.
