Data Analysis using Analysis of Variance
This project will focus on running, interpreting, and writing up the results of factorial ANOVA, repeated measures ANOVA or ANCOVA.
Because learning statistics many times only becomes meaningful (and interesting!) if you are invested in the data you are working with, for this project I want you to locate your own dataset to analyze. In particular, I would most like you to Gind a dataset in line with your research interests or area of study. Good places to start are talking to professors about data they might have available, getting on the internet and looking at available data (there is a lot out there if you just keep your eyes open!) or even reading research articles and potentially contacting the authors to see if they would make their data available to you. Ideally, though, you will Gind a dataset that allows you to answer questions that you Gind of personal interest.
If you do have difGiculty locating a dataset, I can provide you with one. However I do encourage you to try to Gind your own Girst.
When you do have a dataset picked out, please let me see it before you begin working with it so I can make sure it is appropriate for this project.
Try to write this up as you would a journal article for publication. 5 points of your grade are for writing/presentation and organization. And please double space your writeup.
Please make sure to address the following in your write up:
• Purpose for the study and a description of the variables under study.
• Description of the sample
• Rationale for choice of analysis method
• Report on relevant assumptions
• Results of Analysis (including any follow up tests and effect sizes)
• Interpretation of results
• Concluding comments on the study at large
(Think like your article critique… critique yourself!)
