Have you ever been a participant in a prevention group?
Describe the group you participated in. How do you know this was a prevention group and not group counseling?
If you have not, or you prefer not to share about your personal experience, interview a friend or colleague who has participated in a prevention group for this discussion.

In your readings for this unit, Harpine (2013) concludes, “Many groups are attaching a prevention label to lectures and classifying such a session as counseling or group prevention. This must stop. We need to find ways to help everyone working in prevention to use group prevention correctly.”
Develop a prevention problem statement for the topic or issue and population you have been focusing on during this course. Based on that prevention problem and the population you would focus on, propose a prevention group that might be offered to address the problem. Describe one activity you might use to promote either cohesiveness or interaction within the group.
