Phenomenology is the study of structures as experienced by the first-person point of view. Consider the Dome of the Rock and Sainte-Chapelle from a phenomenological perspective. Knowing what has been explored in the module regarding materiality, planning, light, and space for these two buildings, how would the experience differ? How is it similar? What are some examples that you have personally visited that you can compare?
For this discussion, it is important that you are giving your opinion of what the experience would be like to visit these buildings. Make sure you are not just discussing similarities and differences between the spaces, but considering how these similarities and differences would contribute to your experience.
What would it be like to be within the space, to view the imagery, and architectural features? Consider how you would engage with the architecture, and how it would be walking up to the entrance.
If you haven’t visited architectural examples outside of your country, think about the buildings around you. For example, there are cathedrals in America modeled after the Gothic construction.
