Organization of Paper
Your paper must be organized into 3 main sections: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. These headings are NOT to be included in the paper, but I should be able to recognize these sections in your paper. Below is a general idea about what should be included in these sections.
Introduction
Brief background and general scope on your disease topic.
2. Body
Detailed discussion of your disease topic (AS DESCRIBED BELOW)
3. Conclusion
General summary of your paper as well as your own concluding ideas and analysis of your information.
4. Reference Page
You must have at least 3 references. You will find you may need more.
ALL 3 MUST be scientific journal articles.
You may add additional references from text books.
You can use websites from reputable sources only as supplemental references (like the NIH or CDC), but you must have at least 3 references that are scientific journal articles.)
References must be done in the proper format (outlined below).
Citations should be in alphabetical order, based on the last name.
Make sure your reference page is done correctly. Points will be taken off if proper format is not used.
All sources must have been used and cited in the text of your paper.
Guidelines for Body of Paper
Your paper must include the following information about your chosen disease:
1. Brief background
Overview of the normal physiology of affected body system.
2. Disease pathophysiology
How is the normal physiological function altered by the disease?
3. Causes and symptoms
How does one acquire the disease and what are the symptoms of the disease?
4. Diagnostic procedures and/or tests for the disease
What is done to enable the doctors to diagnose the disease?
5. Treatments and preventive measures
What are the treatments for the disease? If there are no treatments, discuss why not.
What are preventative measures that one can take to avoid getting the disease? If there are no preventative measures, discuss why not.
Are there any dietary or lifestyle modifications that someone with the disease can do to help stop or slow the progression of the disease? If so, what are they? If not, discuss why not.
