ENG Final Draft Submission Deadline: End of Week 15, Saturday May 7th
Final Draft Word Count and Setup Requirement:
• 600-800 words
• 12-point Times New Roman font
• Double-spaced lines
• 1st person point of view
What: Write an essay that reflects on your evolution as a writer, researcher, and thinker based on work
accomplished in ENG 2105.
How: A Reflection Essay has an introductory section that includes a thesis statement, at least one body
paragraph that supports the thesis statement, and a concluding section that connects back to the thesis
statement. Here are some questions to consider as you develop this short project:
1) What changes have you noticed in your ability to “employ writing strategies, appeals, and
research skills to compose written projects of varying lengths for a variety of audiences,
subjects, and purposes”?
2) How have you used revision (working with early, advanced, and final drafts) for generating
ideas, drafting, and developing your writing endeavors? What benefit have you found in the
revision process?
3) How will you apply the skills developed in the course to other classes and disciplines?
4) Given the opportunity, what would you do differently in your approach to the assignments in
ENG 2105?
Why: A college course should expand and enhance your academic skills, and a college writing course
should build upon the writing foundation you brought to the beginning of the class. In this course, you
have had the opportunity to complete assignments designed to extend skills in the following areas:
• Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate main ideas, supporting evidence, and conclusions in a
variety of persuasive texts.
• Apply knowledge by expressing informed opinions in classroom discussions and in written
assignments.
• Comprehend how variations in form, organization, syntax, diction, style, and tone are
appropriate for a given audience, subject, and purpose.
• Employ writing strategies, appeals, and research skills to compose written projects of
varying lengths for a variety of audiences, subjects, and purposes.
• Know that writing is a process, and apply personal and collaborative revision and editing
skills (including knowledge of focus, development, organization, and grammar/punctuation)
in the service of substantive revision.
It is important to reflect upon the learning outcomes listed above in relation to the work you have
completed in ENG 1107. A Reflection Essay allows you to do just that.
