Module 2 addresses the following problems of well-being: physical and mental health and health care, alcohol and other drugs, crime and social control, and family problems. For functionalists, the institutions of any society stay in dynamic equilibrium with each other. With any major disruption in society, this balance can be disturbed and dysfunctional behaviors can emerge. The two institutions addressed in this module are the health care system and the family. The dysfunctions are the alcohol and drug issues and crime. An event like the COVID pandemic has the potential to disrupt the stability of any society, contributing to dysfunction. For this assessment, first determine what changes occurred in the health care institution and the family. List at least five changes/stressors for each institution. Next, address the dysfunctions that have arisen possibly as a result of these changes.
The assessment should contain the following:
Introduction: 4-5 sentences introducing the topic – institutions and dysfunctions
Paragraph one: how has the health care system been impacted?
Paragraph two: how has the family been impacted?
Paragraph three: explain how these could lead to dysfunctions such as alcohol and drug issues
Paragraph four: explain how these could lead to dysfunctions such as an increase in crime.
Conclusion: wrap the whole thing up in 3-5 sentences.
You will need references. These can be current news articles and you can cut and paste the article link into the reference list itself to make it easier.
