Assignment 2
Go to a Wawa

·      Ask the cashier what percentage of their sales are from tobacco products? cigarettes/smokeless tobacco)
·      Spend about 15-20 minutes observing and assessing what people are purchasing (groceries, prepared food, snacks, coffee, tobacco products, lottery tickets).
·      Using the online Wawa (on Wawa website)   nutritional calculator, make a meal that is less than 45 gm CHO, less than 1000mg Na, about 500 calories and cost less than $10. It needs to feed an adult male who does works outside and it needs to be able to be eaten while driving (meaning it cannot be a hard-boiled egg and  carrot sticks). Anything in the store can be used, not just the made to order choices. Remember on the calculator, they do not automatically include the hoagie roll. It must be added in.
·      Using the nutritional calculator, also figure out the nutritional specs on the one of the  “most common things ordered” as told to you by the Wawa associate. If needed, alter this item to fit someone who has Type 2 DM and has HTN.

Assignment 3

You are a parish nurse in a clinic which is sponsored by one of the Catholic churches in Norristown . Your patient is a 58 yo who is from Honduras, who has severe headaches that have not responded to any conservative and affordable treatments. They are uninsured but through a grant at a local hospital have been able to get an appointment at the Headache Center at Thomas Jefferson Health located at 900 Walnut St. Suite 200 in Philadelphia. The appointment is at 11:00 am. The patient does not drive and does not have access to anyone who can drive him and his son there. He and his 17 yo son (to serve as a translator) must go on public transportation (SEPTA) to the appointment. The patient will be leaving from 600 Hamilton St. Norristown.
·      Develop a plan that will allow the patient and his son to get to Jefferson in time to the appointment. Keep in mind, the patient makes approx. $520 a week and cost must be considered. Uber or a taxi is not an option
·      Provide the instructions in a written easy to understand way to ensure the patient is successful (must include both ways). Think about what you would need to know about transferring in a busy SEPTA transportation Center. What signs would they need to look for in the station etc. Think about it from point of view from someone where English is not the familyâ€s first language.
·      Does the person need a “transfer” what does this mean and how do they get one?
·      Consider walking times and is it a reasonable walk for this person. Must provide walking directions from the drop off point to the appointment.
