Purpose
In this activity, you will practice measuring getting familiar with the concepts of voltage, current, and resistance and practice measuring them using the tools in your Lab Kit. This skill will be required to use in later labs.
Definitions and Theory
A circuit is defined as a closed path allowing charges to flow. In order to have a complete circuit and for charge to flow through an element (i.e. a resistor or a light bulb), you need three things:
1. A source of voltage (usually a battery or a power supply) to drive charge through the circuit.
2. A complete loop connected by conductors (wires, switches, etc).
3. An element placed in the loop. These elements can be resistors (control the flow of charge),capacitors (to store charge), and/or inductors to control the rate of the flow of charge.
Shows an example of a simple circuit of one battery (voltage source), a lightbulb (resistive element), and a few wires (conductors).
