Introduction
The Salvation Army came into existence in 1865. It was started by William Booth, who saw a need to cater for the religious needs of the destitute, the poor, the hungry and the homeless. He was a religious minister in England who decided to leave behind the pulpit as a comfort zone and go preaching the message on the streets of London, and in this case, East London. Since it was difficult for this group of people he was preaching to, to be received well in the already established churches in this part of the world, William decided to establish a church that would do away with the biasness, that is, the East London Christian Mission. This way, anyone and everyone was welcome to worship together with them. It then managed to spread to other parts of the world through the converts to the Christian faith (Taylor, 2015).
