Culture of Quality

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) requires an organization’s leadership to support and align with the mission, vision, and values. The future of health care and ongoing improvement will require organizations to identify where they currently are in their journey and how to move the organization to a phase where they can successfully conduct and implement CQI activities. Incorporation of change management techniques will play a significant role in success.

1. Visit the website National Committee of County and City Health Officials Links to an external QI Roadmapsite..https://virtualcommunities.naccho.org/qi-roadmap/phases

2. Review the six (6) Phases of a Quality Culture from each level in an organization.
3. Identify an organization you have worked in or are familiar with (ideally in health care) and which of the Phases (1-6) they are currently in. My job would be at a phase 1. I work for a Hand Surgery place. This office is unorganized and understaffed
4. Describe why you have identified this phase for them and at least five characteristics they display the place them in that phase. I have identified this stage because the office is dysfunctional and they need to start from ground one and work they way up. And I feel that everybody needs to be retrained.
5. Identify and describe an area of improvement you would recommend to them.I would like to improve the front office flow, how the phones are being answered, to scheduling patients and verify patient information.
6. Develop the outline of a plan to address their opportunity for improvement. Pay attention to their current culture and what you need to include in order to transition them to the next phase. Use strategies from the Foundational Elements (see attached document).
