Transformational leadership

 

Transformational leadership requires the ability to anticipate change and maintain an awareness of opportunities for expansion within the framework of a community college’s mission and vision. For this second part of your transformational framework, you will consider your role as transformational leader as it relates to social justice and future trends in skill development and develop a framework for transformational leadership.
To prepare:
• Conduct additional research on a social justice topic of interest related to community colleges. (Section A)
• In addition to this module’s required reading, conduct research on the topic of future trends regarding skill sets. (Section B)
• Select a mission statement from a community college of interest. www.iowacentral.edu (Section B)
Section A: Assuming a leadership role, explain how you would address the social justice issue for your institution. Include in your explanation the challenges you expect, why it is worth pursuing, and what you believe the priorities are for a new leader to consider. In addition, explain what skills or strategies you would apply that are in alignment with transformational leadership.
Section B: Explain whether there is alignment or misalignment between the institution’s mission and the information you have found on future trends.
Section C: Develop two to three professional objectives related to institutional growth, alignment with mission, and acknowledgement of future trends.
