Review the details of your assessment including the rubric. You will  have the ability to submit the assessment once you earn a score of 80%  or better on all of the related sub-competency quizzes and engage with  your Faculty Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a substantive way about the  competency.

Overview

For this Assessment, you will answer a series of short-answer  questions to the six prompts listed below. Conflict is often an element  in our interactions, and it is how we handle it that sets us apart as  competent communicators. As an important part of effective interpersonal  communication, you will begin this assessment by identifying the  elements that make a climate defensive. Then, you will consider how to  model the behavior you want to observe in a supportive climate. Finally,  you will address microaggressions in the moment, recognizing someone  might not even be aware of their prejudice or bias.

Submission Length: 7 items, with responses ranging in length from 1?2 paragraphs per item.

Professional Skills: Written Communication, Information Literacy, Engaging Multiple Social and Cultural Perspectives, and Inquiry and Analysis are assessed in this Competency.

Instructions

To complete the Assessment, do the following:

Be sure to adhere to the indicated length for each item.
Download the IQ1003 Written Response Template, which contains the rubric, and answer each question in 1?2 paragraphs.
Download the Academic Writing Expectations Checklist to review prior to submitting your Assessment.
Consider your own experiences or those you have observed with microaggressions. Choose one to write about in your assignment.

Before submitting your Assessment, carefully review the rubric. This  is the same rubric the Assessor will use to evaluate your submission and  it provides detailed criteria describing how to achieve or master the  Competency. Many students find that understanding the requirements of  the Assessment and the rubric criteria help them direct their focus and  use their time most productively.

All submissions must follow the academic writing expectations.  Properly formatted APA citations and references must be provided where  appropriate. Submissions that do not meet these expectations will be  returned without scoring
