Assignment Task

Question

Objectives This project assesses the student’s ability to apply the tools and skills that they have acquired from the Blender lessons and demonstrate their use of the Blender 3D application to model a vehicle. Write your report with supporting images or videos that illustrate your understanding and describe the application of modeling techniques employed.

  • You are to model the Propellor Jet Plane as described in the reference (not including the sky, the ground, the room or wall boundaries). The theme is Propjet Plane. You must apply the modelling skills you have learned to create this model. 1. The model must be a Propeller Jet Plane as shown in the reference photos. 2. It must follow the reference design and dimensions below. 3. All parts and components must be modelled accurately, especially the wings, fuselage, tail stabilizer winglets, jet details, propellor etc. 4. Proper lighting and materials applied – you may apply additional decals and labels utilising UV mapping and texturing.

Assessment

Apply all the skills at your disposal to create your scene, especially all the modelling techniques covered in this course. The Blender Modelling project will be assessed on the quality of the models and the varied types of modelling techniques used. The materials application, lighting, composition and final rendering of the scene will be the main components of assessment.

  • Write a report  to describe how you modelled the items and the modelling methods used for the blend scene. Your report should also discuss how you have applied the basics of lighting to create your scene. You are to take screen shots to clearly illustrate your modelling process in your report. Keep the description simple and to the point. You may use the table option in your Word document to separate your screen grabs and description in the example below.

The Report will be assessed on the ability to describe and understand the correct techniques and the rationale for all the processes used to create the scene.

  1.  Hard Surface Modelling Using the Blender Mesh modelling techniques, construct a classic push tin toy “Plastic Car” to resemble the one below in the sample images. Unwrap the UV coordinates and project the logos of your choice (obtain from the internet) onto the model
  2. Organic Modelling In this practical question, employ or use any modelling techniques you have learned so far to model this Chibi character “Pilot Girl”. You are to submit 3 work-in-progress blender files showing your modelling stages from beginning to end.
